VR LEARNING FOR DRONE FLIGHT.
Applied Research Project - Universidad de La Sabana.
Use of Virtual Reality Simulators in the University Classroom.
This applied research validated with students of the Audiovisual Communication and Multimedia program, that both the teaching and learning process in the skills to fly a DRONE managed to be meaningful from learning in a virtual simulator to practice with a DRONE and in a real flight.
Among the most relevant areas of the studio's work with a focus on instructional content development is virtual reality based development. Currently the Drone Flight Training Course is one of our new products and is available for use with membership for individual, group or institutional stakeholders.
The audiovisual production supported by aerial drones is a growing trend and Higuera Studios proposes to evolve the education for Drone Flight through the implementation of a virtual reality simulator for the pedagogical process.
Subsequently, a field validation was conducted with students from the two control groups and the two groups that were exposed to the simulator, to evaluate the impact of having been exposed to learning supported by a virtual reality simulator versus being taken to a real exercise only with theoretical classes in the classroom. The result was impressively good, since what was learned in the virtual reality simulated scenarios was replicated identically in reality, reducing risks, costs and unforeseen events in an evident way.
